peerie paddle for mri scanner

Claire and her friends at NHS Shetland are going on a sponsored paddle to raise funds for a new MRI scanner for Shetland.

The Shetland MRI Scanner Appeal hopes to raise 2 million so that a MRI Scanner can be located in Shetland which would bring quicker access to diagnostic tests, reduce inconvenience and the need to travel off island. An MRI scan is used to diagnose and monitor a wide variety of conditions and the number of patients who need them is steadily increasing.

Weather-permitting, the plan is to paddle between Bridge End and Scalloway on the morning of 6th April. If the weather is not suitable that day, an alternative will be arranged.

Thank you

Pool Sessions

Hi all,

Pool sessions for the new season start on Thursday 17th October at 8pm at the Clickimin pool. The sessions will run for five weeks, the final night on 14th November 2019.

Again we have exclusive use of the whole pool area, this will allow us to bring in more sea kayaks and possibly canoes.

The extra space will let you to practice all types of strokes in the pool,  rolling, rescues, etc. With extra coaches this year, who will be on hand to assist where required. Please let us know what you would like to work on.

If you have a friend who is keen to try out kayaking why not bring them along for a try.

The rates will be the same as other years £5 adult and £3 concessions. Non members £7.50.
