A Dagger kayak has been found washed ashore on the west side of Shetland. If you have lost a kayak or know someone who has please contact either Craig at craig@cragden.plus.com or Angus at angusnicol50@btinternet.com.
We’re having a meeting on Thursday to review how the 2014 event went, what we could learn from it and what we’d want to do differently next time. There was some great support from club members and it made the symposium a real success. If you’re interested in getting involved please let me know. We’d also welcome any comments about the event and suggestions as to what you’d like to see next time.

Thanks to everyone who managed out on Saturday to support the Bressay to Lerwick swimmers. Here we are lined up after the event.
A few photographs from Tuesday nights trip from Maywick to Ireland.
On 6 September (weather-permitting) there will be a group of 20 people swimming from Maryfield Slip to the Small Boat Harbour to raise funds for RNLI Shetland, CLIC Sargent and NHS Shetland Frontline Services. They will be in groups of 5 and each group would like at least one kayak alongside so that if any of the swimmers need a wee break there will be a kayak on hand for them to hold onto. There will be support boats on hand as well.
If its a fine day we may have a wee trip beforehand round Lerwick Harbour.
If you’d like to be involved please phone Angus or Wendy Nicol and let them know if you require kit.
More information about the event can be found here

It’s looking like the majority of the club coaches are not going to be available this Thursday night so we’re going to have to cancel. While this is a blow, don’t forget that this is our weekend based at Voxter (just north of Brae) and we’re hoping to have some really good trips for everyone. Get in touch if you want more details.

Mavis Robertson, a long-standing member of the Club and until recently our lead coach, will be doing her leg of the relay about 10.30am just south of the “Tesco” roundabout to the end of South Lochside!
In her own words
“… a cheering crowd would be wonderful (!) or one or two individuals with a bouyancy aid and a paddle or helmet would be fun…”
If you’re in the area please feel free to join the crowd and cheer her on 🙂
Roddy McDowell of Kayak Bute is paddling this year at the symposium. As the Scottish Tiderace dealer he’s offering to bring up Tiderace Xcites, Xplores, Xtras, Xcapes and the plastic Vortex up with him! Check out Kayak Bute for details of these lovely boats! http://www.kayakbute.co.uk/
