No club beginners sessions this year

The club will not be holding any beginners sessions this year. This will allow our coaches to devote more of their limited time building up the skills of our current members. Experienced sea kayakers are welcome to join by either getting in touch with an existing member or filling out the contact form on this website.

Sea Kayak Shetland can provide training equivalent to the clubs usual beginner training for any inexperienced kayakers who do want to join this year. They also provide whole day & half day guided trips for anyone who wants to try out kayaking in Shetland. Contact them for more details.

Members spring pool sessions

Members’ spring pool sessions are starting soon. These will be held as follows:

Thursday 16 March at 8-9pm
Thursday 30 March at 8-9pm
Thursday 6 April at 8-9pm
*There is no session on 23 March*

Please arrive 15 minutes early to help unload the equipment and get ready to be in the pool for 8pm.

All sessions will be held at Clickimin Leisure Centre and the costs is £7.50 members / £10 non-members / £5 concessions.

Members can just turn up on the day, no booking is required.

February pool sessions

Hi we are very excited to announce the club will be running two free taster session on Thursday Feb 9th 8pm and Thursday Feb 23rd 8pm for new members to try kayaking. These are separate from our beginners training and pool sessions in April and are there to provide the opportunity for people to try kayaking before committing to the training. People dont have to undertake these tasters, they can join later in April.

As COVID has prevented us running sessions for the last few years we are asking people to book (booking is essential, people cant just turn up), in order that we are not overwhelmed and to ensure it is enjoyable for all. Hopefully with two sessions, there should be a chance for everybody who is interested to attend. Funding for the sessions has been provided by the Shetland Islands Council Winter Activities Fund, who we would like to thank for their support.
